This is a handy little product. Especially if you live in the southern US. It would be great if it had a dehumidifier. Other than that it is a pretty good machine.

I purchased the SPT SF-610 from a local retailer on 1 July 2009 and returned it on 5 July. This item has many nice features but it is not a good cooler. I used it at different times of the day with the temperature ranging between 75??F and 106??F; it did not offer any cooling effect when the temperature was over 85??. The motor is quiet but the fan running at medium or high is rather noisy.

I bought this (almost 2 years ago now) to use for my bedroom which never cools well in the Texas heat. You do need to use ice if you want it to cool the room, adding water only just doesn't do enough to combat the heat. But I run it at night and in the morning I can tell a noticable difference in the temp when i leave the bedroom. For the price you really can't beat it. If you can afford to spend $500 on a portable air conditioner thats great, for the rest of us this is a great option :)
