I live with 2 other girls, and we each have a cat. My cat, being a spoiled rotten princess, REFUSED to drink out of a bowl because when I lived alone, I would allow her to drink out of the bathroom faucets. As my flatmates didn't want to have the water running 24/7, we tried to make her use the bowl like any of the other cats. This didn't work. She would wake us up at all hours yowling her head off in the bathroom for someone to turn the water on for her. What cat wants to go back to bowl water when she was able to have fresh, running water for the past year? As of late, she started crapping in the bathtub as punishment towards us. So, I bought this fountain in the cappuchino/brown color (so it matches my decor, I didn't want some bright white plastic thing throwing everything off), and the yowling and crapping has ceased!!! All the cats love this fountain and the water dish goes relatively unused. They even play in it once in a while, so if you buy this (and I suggest you do), it's helpful to put a cloth mat under it. My cat doesn't even go near the bathroom anymore. It hardly makes any noise, and we've noted that when we do start noticing a slight hum, it's time to put fresh water in it. The filters last a good long time as well. I'm so glad I bought this for my cats!!

Kind of noisy, doesn't hold a lot of water, and stained pretty easily from the water..

I got this when a friend recommended a pet fountain for my maine coon shiloh who would harass me everytime I went into the bathroom for fresh water. I am 27 weeks pregnant, and I go to the bathroom ALOT, so it was getting a little old! Well I got this, 6 days earlier than they estimated I would get it! I set it up. The set up was relatively easy for me, I just got confused when it mentioned the grommet, I expected that to be a little piece somewhere in the packaging but it was already in the unit. Anyways, I followed all the steps to set it up, plugged it in, let it run for a minute. I noticed that when I followed the directions for how much to fill it, the resevoir was empty already, so I had to refill that a second time, but that was not a big deal to me. I set it down, called my cat over to it, he seemed a little cautious of it at first, as did my girl cat. But I just turned it on and left it there all day today and have seen him drinking from it a few times and he has not bothered me in the bathroom near as much for fresh water. We are down from at least 10 times a day to only 2 times today. The only reason this product does not recieve that 5th star from me is because when you set it up, it says to set the lever on "low". Well I turned it up for my cat, because he responds to the sound of the water running and knows thats what he drinks, and when it is turned up, the unit will make the occasional gurgling noise. It makes the same noise when first setting it up and the pump is used for the first time. It just continues when on a higher setting. When it makes the sound and the cats are near, they get a little bit scared of it. Granted, I have only had it one day so far, so that could go away. We will see.
