This Weber Summit grill, as well as the entire Summit line has a design flaw that Weber refuses to consider an issue. Whenever it rains, water runs down the back and enters the internal drip tray, then flows into a drip pan, which then overflows a greasy water mess onto the cabinet floor. This problem occurs with and without the Weber Premium cover in place. (The cover has a mesh on the back that lets the rain in.) I give the grill a two star rating because it does do a nice job of cooking ... once the mess is cleaned up.

The Weber Summit line of grills have a design flaw that Weber refuses to consider an issue. Whenever it rains, water runs down the back and enters the internal drip tray, and empties into a drip pan. The pan then overflows the greasy mess onto the cabinet floor. Furthermore, the drip pan cannot be easily removed without almost totally spilling the greasy mess.

In October of 2007 we upgraded to the Summit 420 and gave my old Weber to my daughter. I'm just now writing a review of our new grill because I wanted to know what I was talking about. First I have to say, the old Weber (a Genesis purchased in 1987) was in top shape having only replaced the grills and flavor bars. Second I have to say, my new grill makes grilling far more relaxing regardless of what we grill. From catfish to the finest fillets, it provides the most consistent great texture and taste. The ability to adjust four different burners from side to side without moving the food is the magic in this grill. The grill is a perfect size for my wife and I, or up to 10 people. Chicken wings are the all time favorite in our family and on this grill I can brown the outside of the wing, fully cook, and then crisp them before taking off (not one burnt spot), without opening the grill but one time. You can cook brisket at 200 degrees, grill shrimp and veggies at 300, bake catfish at 400, and grill steaks at 500 degrees. The stainless steel grills are easy to clean, the light works great at night, and it sure seems like I'm using less propane. Service has always been awesome. I truly feel that if you were lost and you called Weber customer service, they'll try to help you. As far as the downside: I haven't found anything negitive from grilling on this grill at least twice a week for almost a year.

I purchased the nearly same s-670 grill as a replacement for an older weber and returned it as defective. the replacement also was flawed and was taken back. There is a serious disgusting design flaw on this model. there is a large gap all along the attachment of the grill to the cart that leaves a one inch opening around it. In ANY rain storm water leaks in here, runs down the grease trap catcher and fills the grease pan that sits in the cabinet. In a short time your entire cabinet fills with a flood of rotting greasy overflow and water destroying anything inside. Weber claims to know nothing of this and asked for photos to analyze but if you search on line for this problem you will see many many people have had it and demanded refunds from weber. Their only answer is to leave the grill covered at all times when not in use-- this is just unacceptable for a $2000 grill. Beware!

I have a Weber Summit S-420, but my comments are applicable to the entire Summit line. Whenever it rains, water flows down the back and enters the internal drip tray, which the flows into a drip pan. The pan overflows creating a greasy mess inside the cabinet. The problem occurs with and without the Weber cover in-place. Weber does not consider this to be an issue!!! I give the grill a 2 star rating because it does do a nice job of cooking - once the mess is cleaned up.

This grill has everything I wanted in a grill. It gives you the convience of gas, but the taste of a charcoal grill. I love the built in wood box. Today I smoked a Boston Butt roast for 6 hours using indirect heat on about 225 degrees and it turned out great. I would highly recommend this product.

Like many people, I scoured reviews on Amazon and elsewhere trying to get a feel for which BBQs were the best in the $500-$800 category--as many have, I've bought the $150 special at Target only to be disappointed with the cooking performance and longevity. Weber grills kept showing up with 5 star ratings, particularly the Genesis E310/S310 models. I ended up buying a Genesis S-310 from a local brick and mortar store because I didn't have time to wait for shipping from an internet store. Be aware, this grill comes in a HUGE box, weighs 160 lbs. and may be subject to some interstate freight drop-kicking which probably won't hurt what's inside. Your first hurdle will be assembly--the instructions are TERRIBLE. Anyone who tells you they put it together in under an hour is either a liar or assembles grills for a living. In my case, it took 3 tool-handy men about 3 hours to assemble it. For example, one part in step one has to be installed in a certain orientation or the firebox in step 12 won't drop in correctly. Guess who installed it the wrong way and had to undo the work when the grill was already 50% assembled? Another issue we had with the instructions was that there are 4 different types of screws used, but the screws for the door handles were actually different than the ones shown in the instructions--at the end of assembly, we realized that the 4 screws left over were for the handles. Let's talk about the "stainless steel" on this grill. The lid, handles, grills and doors are stainless steel. The shiny side shelves and other surfaces are stainless veneer, so to speak--bent metal that covers a painted frame. The firebox is some kind of powdercoated metal, but it ain't stainless. It's just an eye-opener to see all the non-stainless steel parts that are covered up as you assemble the grill. The grill works very nicely--with the 3 burners going, you can easily get the internal temp over 500 degrees F and steaks, fish, and burgers sear quickly and with little sticking on the stainless steel rods. So after using it a few times, I had to replace my LP tank (as I'd started with a 1/2 full one) and then the fun really began! The new tank went on...and no gas would come out. Looked in the instructions, tried what it said, fiddled with the connectors, tried manual lighting...even called Weber who cheerfully tried to talk me through another set of instructions. NO GAS. I had guests waiting to be fed. One guest suggested opening the tank valve just ever-so-slightly so a little gas would flow...and voila! the grill lit up on the first click of the ignitor! Turns out if your tank is filled 100%, the pressure regulator won't let gas flow if you open the valve wide open, so by opening the valve just a little the regulator lets gas flow--essentially bleeding the tank--and after your first grilling session, the tank pressure is no longer high enough to trigger the safety mechanism. Despite the excellent Weber phone service--even on a Sunday afternoon--this scenario wasn't covered in the manual or on the phone. My bottom line: this is a excellent-performing grill--if you pay full list price it's not a great deal. Considering the premium price, the fit and finish is underwhelming. I haven't had any grills in this price range before this purchase, so I can't compare. But I liked the long warranty and you can't beat the responsiveness of the Weber support staff--that is definitely NOT hype!

I was thrilled to have my 160# Weber box delivered. I went to my patio and began to assemble it to find the portion of the grillbox that attaches to the shroud was cracked off and floating in the box. What a disappointment. A broken 160# unit sitting on my porch. Advice: Buy $800.00 160# items from a local rep. My local Ace Hardware store had one assembled and brought it to my door, delivery free of charge.

This is the second Weber Propane grill I have owned. The first lasted 15 years, a tribute to the quality and durability of Weber product. Overall. the Genesis S-310 is a superb gas grill that is easy to use and cooks with remarkable precision. The electronic ignition system is especially noteworthy as it fire up the grill with the mere touch of a button. The three burner system enables a variety of foods to be either seared or broiled reliably.
