As a Pastry Chef, I can test any brand of product. One of two brands I would choose would be KitchenAid. I have this 7 speed mixer along with a 5 speed mixer. These mixers depending on the job could render a KitchenAid Stand Mixer unnecessary. Unless you are going to make triple batches or very oowey gooey mixes these will be perfect. I use these mixers every week. I also own a:(all kitchenAid) 5qt. bowl-lift stand mixer from 1967. This mixer was my grandmothers. Still works perfect. 6qt. professional bowl-lift stand mixer. Awesome. covection range Those would be the major appliances. I have many little things that are KitchenAid as well. Once you use these mixers you will never buy anything else. The other brand that I would choose for various around the house duties would be Miele. A fantastic brand in itself.

I bought this for the time when you just don't need/want to use the stand mixer - or when you need another mixer for a complicated baking project. I have had it several years but only used it THREE times. The motor died - it just won't work. No sound - no spin - nothing. Of course it is past the warranty. [sigh]
