We recieved these as a wedding gift in 2004 and now I find that we need all new pots and pans. I love to cook and use these everyday. First - they do not heat evenly, I am constantly moving food around the pan to get the right heat. They have been chipping almost since they were new. We take very good care of our things, and always washed these pans carefully and have never used a metal utensil. So what gives? I have a non stick pan I brought to college (a LONG time ago) that has faired better than these. I have to wonder why they are being sold through a clearance company?

We had the 13" skillet and a pot, both the Calphalon One non-stick. They both began chipping and flaking after about 5 months. Normally I would think, if someone complained of this happening to them, that they were obviously doing something wrong to the finish. I can assure you that we take very good care of our cookware. We never put them in the dishwasher, hand-washed them the same night after cooking with them, never used metal utensils on them, and used very soft sponges to clean them. Our skillet began flaking so bad that it started to rust last week so we had to stop using it. Both the pot and skillet began to chip around the time time, and they were used for two very different cooking purposes. I believe the finish was defective in the products sold a year ago. We went in to Bed Bath and Beyond last night to see if we could exchange the two pieces for stainless steal. (They let us, by the way, believing as well that they were defective). While at the store, we stopped to take a gander at the same pot and skillet - the new ones have a totally new finish on them. It looks completely different from ours we bought over a year ago. I think Calphalon knows about this defect and have since tried to make the product better. So maybe if you purchase a new piece, you'll have better luck. However, I would strongly recommend stainless or cast iron above a non-stick set any day. Even though it's Calphalon brand, beware. Also, we bought the Calphalon One grill pan the same day we bought the skillet and pot. The Grill pan is still in top shape, never flaked at all. We cleaned it the same way we did the skillet and pot. And strangely enough, since it's a grill pan for meat, I've used metal tongs on it all the time - not one scratch or chip or flake. I think it's hit and miss with Calphalon as they seem to always be changing their products. Even in the store last night we saw a rack of omelet pans, all with minor differences - they were all the same product number and same price, yet some had smaller rivets, some had slightly different handles, etc. (Leading me to believe that they are constantly changing their design - not to say they are making them worse, I believe they are trying to make their products better, but you might get stuck being the "lab rat" as they work out the kinks.) I'm just concerned that Calphalon isn't the top-of-the-line brand they used to be. It makes sense, though. The more a professional brand becomes accessible to the public at large, the more they skimp on the production. Another reason why I'm wary of Calphalon now is that on their care instructions, it doesn't matter if it's hard-anodized, stainless, non-stick, or whatever - they have almost unreasonable instructions. You can't soak them, you can't use cooking spray, you can't you can't you can't. I would think that a top brand like Calphalon would be focusing on ways to make outstanding cookware - pieces that stand the test of time and are actually made to be cooked in and cleaned. That's just my opinion, but only in a perfect world I guess. I'm giving them one star b/c I really hoped to use these products longer than one year. Also, it claims to evenly distribute the heat but it never did, even from day one. For the same price or slightly cheaper, you can get stainless or cast iron so this set is NOT worth the money.

I was so excited to receive my new pots and pans. They are an excellent investment. It's unfortunate that you cannot put them in the dishwasher. The little extra TLC is definitely worth it. I LOVE them!

I recieved this pan directly from Calphalon as a warranty replacement for my 3 quart commercial nonstick saute pan. I absolutely love it! I had to send my other pan back because after 3 years of use and proper care, the nonstick coating started to come off. I have had this pan for about a year now, and it has actually outperformed my old pan! I use it almost everyday. The size is perfect for our family of 4! And the coating is very slick! No troubles cleaning it up. You will love this pan!

I have this and the 5-quart. They are my favorite pans. Take good care of them and they will last a very long time. Worth every penny.

This is a great saute pan. I was a little concerned after reading a couple of luke-warm reviews but I am pleased to report that I have been delighted. My wife and I both love to cook and this pan has been put through its paces, meat, fish, veggies etc. all have been tried and the non-stick treatment has been great. Easy to clean, deep, great size; expensive but worth it!!

DO NOT BUY the Calphalon One Non Stick Pan I am a good cook, and I know pots and pans. The Customer service I received from Calphalon was superb. Within six years, I returned FOUR Calphalon One Non Stick Pans to Calphalon for replacement, and each time, I received back a brand new pan which was sent by the company within only 3 to 10 days, after they received my pan. Superb customer service, and this company really does stand behind their (INFERIOR) product. Maybe I will try to sell online, the new pan I just received from Calphalon, to end my culinary nightmare. The pans work very well for approximately 50 to 100 uses. Then the surface of the pan becomes dull, food sticks, and the pan becomes worthless. I have treated the pans very carefully, using good quality nylon spatulas, cooking below maximum allowable temperatures, and always waiting for the pan to cool off for at least 20 minutes before washing with mild soap, and a soft sponge. However, I have found the inexpensive non stick pans I purchased at my local retailers to last as long, or longer than Calphalon non stick pans. I have had better luck with my Calphalon infused Anodized pan. I have only returned one to the company in six years. The Calphalon infused anodized pan sears very well, although it is sometimes moderately difficult to clean, when adding sauces to meats. Although Calphalon provides outstanding customer service, please do not purchase the Calphalon One Non Stick pan, unless you are prepared to return it to the manufacturer after using it for a fairly short period of time.

I'm very pleased with the quality of this fry pan. Someone who likes to cook with top of the line cookware would appreciate the value of such an essential piece in their kitchen.

I had a whole set of Calphalon Commercial Nonstick cookware. After 10 years, the finish starting peeling off the 12-inch frying pan. I sent the pan back to Calphalon stating that I never used metal in my pans but the finish was peeling anyway. They sent me a brand new Calphalon One pan as a replacement. I so appreciate a company that stands behind their promises and doesn't accuse the consumer for abusing the product and voiding any warranties.

These are expensive but you get what you pay for. Take of the nonstick surface by handwashing and this product will perform is advertised. If you have a powerful stove these heavy duty pans hold up. I also love the glass lid.

Several years I ago, I purchased a complete set of Calphalon COMMERCIAL Nonstick cookware with stainless steel lids. Unfortunately, I damaged the 2 1/2 quart pan this year. Apparently my previous line has been discontinued, and the closest replacement I could find was the Calphalon ONE Nonstick. Except for the fact that the Calphalon ONE Nonstick has tempered glass lids, I now wish that all my cookware was the newer Calphalon One. The nonstick surface is even better than the original COMMERCIAL line.
