First tank failed after about a 1 1/2 years. Replacement tank failed after another year. Still have a few months on left on the 3 year warranty but I'm not going to bother because it is a badly designed product. Even when new, the flow rate is not that good due to very narrow inlet that clogs if you have hard water. Also the vent piping inside kinks due to a bad and cheaply made housing design. So I had to periodically maintain this until the heater or thermal switch failed. I replaced it a Quick&Hot brand. I don't know if it will last but it was less than 1/2 the cost and it is a simpler open vent design with a much higher flow rate. - Phil

Had my hot/cold insinkerator for about 2 years when the faucet broke and as a favor I was able to replace it thru insinkerator with their newer 5 year warrantee model for $150. Just replaced the faucet and connections, turned on the hot water and after a couple of minutes heard a pop and the plastic tank had gone and was now leaking into my cabinet. Called insinkerator again and as a favor they will send me a new stainless steel tank with a 3 year warrantee for $150. At this point after spending almost $500 and now spending $300 for replacement parts...this is the last time I use insinkerator.

I bought this as a replacement for a 4 year old same model, out of warranty, leaker. The product concept is excellent and it has become a 'basic requirement' in our kitchen. At one time, there was competition for dispensers but it seems Insinkerator must have bought them out, so if you want one you have no obvious alternative. The new one I received now has a 'lifetime warranty' that I fully anticipate using. The now seperately purchased heater unit builds up water pressure as any heater must do. The technical problem is that the dispenser seals or gaskets begin to unseat over time and pressure cycles and this self contained and unrepairable unit wears out resulting in a spurting, steaming, unstoppable drip that requires a new unit. The throat going through the counter top has been recently redesigned longer to assumedly address the comments of others that it is too short to go through 1" granite (which I have). I had this same problem 2 dispensers ago. We consider this a necessary product for the fully equipped kitchen, but it's not perfected. The lifetime warranty will help, but I'm confident that it will fail again.
