Bought this demo hammer 11/21/07. As expected, all Hitachi tools are true quality tools. Am goign to demo an entire driveway, which will be a good test of the tool's durability. Kind of a cheap jack hammer for the little guy. Not too happy with Amazon though. They advertise that this tool comes with case, tool, case, hex wrench, and grease. As shipped, no grease or hex wrench enclosed. Now have to find grease and tool on my own. Amazon as usual did a poor job shipping the tool. No packing cushion on bottom of box, so by time it got to me had a cracked case from some hard landings on trucks. Major hassle to get returned, so will keep and fix and buy stuff myself. Come on Amazon, do a better job of packing for shipment!!!!

This hammer was perfect for my needs. I consider myself a good handyman. I am helping my wife's cousin build a 5K sq ft house. He put a window where we needed a door. The hammer went through six inches of reinforced concrete with 7/8 inch chisel. We scored the sides first with a diamond blade. It took up floor tile like a hot knife through butter. Used two inch scale chisel on tile three inch scale chisel on thin set. I had to hammer out concrete around a tub drain. Hammer is easy to use and control. My first demo hammer. I couldn't be more pleased.

Since I got this hammer I ve rarely had to reach for my big yellow bosch and it seems most of those jobs would be even better suitted for a compressor powered hammer. It busts throgh 4" slab with no problem at all evev the older hard stuff. and it will flat out crush anything lesser with no effort. The only time i've had to reach for the boschlately was for really thick solid stuff like a set of full concrete stair that mst have been pored with 3 yards of concrete and like I said befoe I shoulda ot a compressor for that one. The oil sight on the side is also a nice way to know when its time for a lube up because believe me these hammers last a lot longer when you maintain them. And if you ever boughtmore than one of these you know they aint cheap So all in all I tried this against the HILTI te905 and Mkaita 1304 and it blew the Hilti away and is also about$800 bucks cheaper its only drawback being the hilti level of service is better thanyone elses and it about 15 pound heavier but that good unless all your doing is work where you need the to be held out vrtical for longggg periods of time and unlee you tearing down a prison thats rarily the. The Makita is a nice hammmer that weighs about the same, has less power but barely and is a little quieter and I would recommmend that if it wssnt 150-250 bucks more than the hitahi and i really have had good luck wit other hitachidemo hammers (see DH1440 so i highly recommend this hammer to anyone that does alot of varied demo work or this is also great for digging

A door at the office got locked the other day. ...and we don't have a key for it. A friend came in, eager to try out his lockpick tools, because that's what all the hip kids at Defcon do these days. That took 45 minutes and didn't get the door open. A valiant attempt, and I appreciate the willingness to help out. Today I went in the office, along with my Bosch electric rotary demolition hammer. The chisel tip bit deformed the face of the lock in about 10 seconds, and then strange sounds started coming out...just before bezel deformed an popped off, the barrel of the lock sunk into the door a half inch and rotated 90 degrees, and the door popped open. From the inside, I backed out three screws, slapped the lock barrel with a hammer, and picked up the pieces off the floor. The lock barrel was almost too hot to touch from the high speed abuse it had taken. Advantage: brute force, by 44 minutes and 42 seconds. I've also cut holes through cinderblock and concrete slabs with this tool. Recommended.

I rented a copy of this tool locally--it was brand new--I guess most of the entire stock of the tool rental store was destroyed last year during Hurricane Wilma. I wanted to see if it would work well busting out a second floor tub/pool that a previous owner had in the house. The tub/pool was on second floor but hung down into the first floor kitchen. The tub was 12 inch thick, overly/excessively reinforced with with 5/8 inch rebar throughout. The tub was 4 feet wide, 8 feet long, & 4 1/2 feet deep. The tool was working so well, that after one-day rental, I decided to buy one on Amazon to complete the project at my leisure. With a friend's help, we knoocked it out in two days & I could not have done it without this demolition hammer . . . EASY to use & hold but POWERFUL. I thought I'd sell the tool at about 1/2 of what I paid on Amazon after I was finished, BUT, I loved this tool so much I'm keeping it in my tool collection. This Bosch powerhouse is a keeper. Oh boy, if only I had this too years ago . .. It has a great storage case & easy to pull out, load a chisel & you're off. And it has a great long, heavy duty power cord built in so even if you need an extension cord, you have plenty of cord to keep it far out of your working area. I love, really love this tool, & of course, it lives up to the Bosch high-quality reputation. Oh, also got this on a 10% Amazon discount with free shipping . . . worth every single cent . . . This tool is idiot proof.

As a DIY'er, I was hesitant to spend this kind of money for something that I was just going to use for home improvement projects. However, after a year of struggling with trying to dig in my rock-hard clay soil, I finally gave in. I haven't been disappointed! Since this is the only demo-hammer I've used, I really can't compare it to anything else, but I'm very happy with the tool's performance and quality. Using this beast is a little bit of a workout, but I'm sure it's much easier than trying to handle a full sized jack - especially if you have any horizontal hammering to do. So far I've used it to dig out a good sized footer for a retaining wall, trench for drainage/irrigation lines, demolish a BBQ island built from concrete block, and break out a small area of 4" concrete sidewalk. What a timesaver!

I purchased this smaller electric hammer to use for light masonry operations. I found it works best for precision detailing such as removing individual tiles and bricks with mortar. Best, is that it is not as destructive as a larger electric hammer, but more like using a hammer and chisel for fine chisel work. The tool makes you capable of achieving clean, non destructive openings or removals on you masonry work. This Bosch electric hammer provides everything you will require for light work with the quality you expect from a Bosch tool. This one meets all of my exceptions and I am sure yours too.

After removing old ceramic tile with a hammer and chisel, I tried to remove the old thin set from the concrete slab by hand. After a few days I gave up and ordered the Bosch Chipping Hammer. I should have gotten it sooner. It's way faster, way easier, and does a much better job. I love Bosch tools, and this one is rapidly becoming my favorite.
