At first glance it looks very stylish and someone I know calls it a bazooka. It doesn't fire ammunition but it blows away concrete. This 31 ft/lb hammer pays for it self after a few concrete jobs. it doesent drain all the power from weak eletrical circuits. I've used it to break up concrete 5" with an moil point and narrow chisel. On this website you can find cheap 1-1/8 demolition bits that fit the retainer. The locking control can be operated by hand, so that a plus, it might not feel like it at first but after a few times of opening and closing, it loosen up. When the retainer is hot, it works best to have a tool to open up the latch. I've used it with a spade bit to dig in the ground and it does a fine job of pushing the spade down into the ground. When its operating it makes a clicking sound that is not incredibly loud but I always wear ear muff and eye glasses for protection. The weight of the tool definitely help with the force pushing down on the ground. Just letting the machine tilt horizontally the weigh pulls the spade upward. The forward handle isn't attached to the machine but strapped in away that It stays attached, so it spin in the direction going in gravity. The handle where the trigger is it's attached with an ridged foam that gives very little. So while operating it I felt very little vibration at all on my hands. The metal case I got was dented but the hammer wasn't damaged at all. I believe its suppose to come with two hex wrenches however I didn't receive them. The power cord isn't very long at all. With those minor problem in mind the hammer more then makes up for my 5 star rating on this product. It definitely lives up to the Hitachi name. SIDE NOTE; It might not be recommended but in side the manual it said on page 13 dull accessory should be sharpen. I find using a grinder on a regular basis prevent the demo steel from getting excessively dull. Thus reducing grinding time. Of course not everyone is skilled enough to sharpen their own bits, safety should be the number one concern. Shipping weight is 58 not 86 pounds.
