Henckels Gourmet 3-Piece High Carbon Stainless Steel Knife Starter Set

A great gift, this set provides a cook with enough versatility to accomplish most kitchen jobs. The chef's knife, with its broad blade and curved cutting edge for rocking through a chopping task, chops, minces, slices, and dices. The utility knife slices, cuts, and chops; its 6-inch blade is large enough to trim a chuck roast or subdue a head of lettuce. The paring knife cuts, peels, and cleans fruits and vegetables. Henckels' Gourmet line is a less expensive cutlery line featuring knives without bolsters and handles that are narrower and shallower than those of its premier lines--perfect for people with small hands. My daughter is thrilled with the quality and heft of the knives!

I love these knives. Nice balance and well made. Very solid and they sharpen up nicely with little effort. It might be my fault for washing them in the dishwasher, but after a year I noticed little rust spots that began to appear. It will break my heart when and if they become too rusty to use.

These are low-end Henckels, which is fine, if that's what you're after. But don't expect the top quality usually associated with the Henckels name.
