What Makes a Modern Kitchen Faucet?

We hear the word bandied around all the time, but what does it really mean to be "Modern"? When it comes to modern kitchen faucets, it apparently means clean lines, a simple design, and stainless steel and brass. Just take a look at the Blanco Purus II kitchen faucet, which is touted for the "modern" arc shape of the faucet, and its stainless steel finish. The entire faucet is crafted from metal, from the faucet head, to the pillar, all the way down to it's metallic handle, and geometric design of the faucet makes it look like something off the set of a science fiction movie from the '80s. Modern Kitchen Faucet Designs

It used to be that kitchen faucets were simple, metallic tubes that water came out of. No longer. With the advent of "modern" kitchen faucets, designers have unleashed their creativity in designing water faucets that defy conventions and expectations. I just did a quick search on Become.com, and here are a couple of innovative modern kitchen faucet designs I came across: Pretty cool stuff. Some of the faucets have a very clean and contemporary design, with distinct geometric lines and a minimalistic aesthetic, whereas some of the other faucets, like the Hamat Copper Danielle, feature a retro look that hearkens back to times past, but with a few choice modern touches. All of the faucets seem to make liberal use of chrome and stainless steel.
