I had a corded Black and Decker Grass Hog that died after many years. It did a great job, but, boy, the cord was a major pain. Purchased this as I wanted to go cordless (how risque! ;-) and did not want a heavy gas machine. The Earthwise is lightweight and works well. No problems at all with the linefeed, turning on, etc. Easy to use. BUT, it is very weak. I charge the battery for several hours and it gives me 15 minutes, period. So I can do a little here, a little there, and we're done. Which isn't that bad, but it is not strong enough to go through tough crabgrass. It certainly cannot mow down major weeds, just grass. My yard is small compared to what some folks have written and I surely have not gotten a half hour time out of the battery. Also does not cut as evenly as the Black and Decker did... it kind of bounces rather than giving a straight, even cut. So I'd say it's kind of a toy, but boy do I love the no cord! Read the review about Homelite cordless... maybe I will look into that. This just needs a little more power and a much longer battery life.

If you like trimming or even if you don't. This product works very well and is lightweight to use. I did not keep track of how long I trimmed but the battery charge lasted with time to spare. I might add, I don't have a large yard. The convenietly placed button on the handle was nice for controlling the off and on use. Especially when going from place to place in the yard. I'm sure that helps the life of the battery. The automatic string feed works very well also. If you want a no hassle trimmer...this is it. I may even trim more often.
