This model has serve me fine for over 7 years. About the only thing that has gone wrong is it will not rotate as slow as when I first got it. It's my fault really, I would barely turn it on and over time the sliding contact just burnt off a little. I't still works well even after all the crap I've done with it, I've replaces the brushes and chuck parts many times and still works like new. As long as you don't over load it, keep it maintained and clean theres no reason why it shouldn't last at least 5 years or more with no problems what so ever.

I've owned and used this Dremel Unit since 1998. While I'm extra careful with all my tools, they are maintained and used regularly. Keeping in mind the limitations of this Rotary Power Tool I expect it to last at least another eight years! The 395 performs very well, doing the jobs for which it is designed with ease. Dremel keeps up with technology and competition forces it to "modernize" their basic version of this tool, but I cannot yet find any excuse to spend money on later models.
