My problems with this item are threefold (so far). I just bought it and am trying it out for the first time today and here is what I've noted: 1. the rug attachment doesn't do squat and while I have mostly hardwood floors, I do have a couple of area rugs that need to be vacuumed at least occasionally; 2. the cord is VERY short. Annoyingly so. With my other vacuum cleaners, I've had to move the plug once while doing the house, but with this one, I'm moving it as much as twice per room. Why on earth didn't they give the thing an ample electrical cord???? 3. the handle/arm of the thing is way too short. I have to bend over to use it and this is hard on my back (and I teach Yoga!) I'm looking to try and find another segment I can buy to attach to the handle to lengthen it. But, in fact, I'm seriously considering returning this thing to the store from which it came.

I knew this might not be the greatest vacuum, at this price, but I thought it was worth a try. I wasn't expecting miracles. I thought it had fairly good suction, and it's light, but that's about all I can say for it. Annoyance number one is that there is no fastener to hold the tube on to the handle, or the attachments on to the end of the tube. The attachments are less of a problem, but that tube has fallen off during use I don't know how many times in the one month we've owned this. That gets really old fast. When hair gets wrapped around the brush roller, as it inevitably does, this is VERY hard to take apart to clear off. There is nowhere on the vacuum to store the small attachments. There are some clips on the tube which were possibly designed for this, but this proved ridiculous, as they fell off pretty quickly. The brush roller is powered only by suction, so don't expect a lot from it. It has stopped a number of times. The electrical cord was short, compared to our last vacuum, so it was necessary to plug it in twice to finish our living room, which isn't all *that* large. The final straw was when the motor just stopped without warning, and I couldn't get it going again. I will never buy another Dirt Devil.

Not only was the price unbeatibable but the order was promp and the person who i purchase the vacuum as a gift was verry happy.
