This product is very unsafe for children. It has 3 adjustable shelves which easily slide forward and backward. My 2 year old managed to do this within the first 5 minutes that the bookcase was built and they came crashing down on his head and arm. Most bookcases have side lips so that shelves have to be angled to get them in and out. These shelves simply slide out much like a drawer and there is nothing to stop them from falling down. They could have at least made grooves on the shelf pegs, but there are none present. The end result is that for the shelves that are adjustable, it is very unstable and unsafe for children. Lastly, this bookcase should have come with a wall fastener. It is very heavy b/c of its height and could easily be pulled down on a toddler. Although this bookcase looks nice and stylish, I would not be surprised if it was recalled b/c it is completely unsuitable for a child's room in my opinion.
