I read several other reviews on this product before purchasing it as a gift. All the other reviews ranted and raved about it, on this website and several others. I was more than pleased with the Amazon price and 1st quality product when comparing the price to other websites. I was however disappointing in the packing that it was shipped in. I used to work for UPS and am familiar with their packing standards. There was not two inches of packing around the item the box was only about half full with packing material. As a result the box for the product was crunched. It did not hurt the product, but I was embarrassed to give a crunched box as a wedding present.

Last Monday this item was selling for $65. My sister had just gotten the 1.5 quart one and said it was great, but I liked the looks of this one better and for the extra $16 dollars it would have been worth it to me. I waited to order it however, since I was going to visit her and I wanted to see hers for myself. I returned home yesterday, sat down today (6 days later) to order, and was very unhappy and surprised to see that in 6 days the price had gone up to $79!! At this point I must seriously reconsider, and am attempting to browse the internet for a better deal! Also to consider the KitchenAid ice cream attachment. P.S. After posting the above comment, I went to the Cuisinart web page and found this item to be selling there for $79.99, not the $145 retail price that is given on Amazon, but $1 more than the Amazon price..of course that price does not include shipping. I have bought many things at Amazon and have been quite happy with them but, as with any purchase, it always pays to do your homework! I have just ordered a new factory refurbished one for $60 with free UPS shipping...so we'll see how that goes. (After doing some research on the KitchenAid attachment it seemed to have a couple of issues, such a messy overflow being one.) The refurbished Cuisinart unit comes with a 90 day warranty from Cuisinart. I have bought factory refurbished items before and not had any problems so I am planning on eating some great ice cream soon!!

Very easy to use product, works great. We just don't fill the unit all the way up and make one and one half quarts instead of two and also let the unit go just a little longer than specified. I would like to own another one of these and may buy a second machine soon. I personally reccomend this machine to anyone who likes home made ice creaam.
