I got this fryer since there is only 2 of us at home and the thought of wasting less oil was very appealing. I have the much larger Waring deep fryer but only use that for large gatherings. The Cuisinart is handy. I tried it with fresh cut potatoes to make fries. I followed the directions and they came out really nice. My only issue is that you could only put one layer of potatoes in the frying basket which made the cooking time longer for the amount of food being cooked. I assume the one layer directions was to prevent the food from sticking together. Overall, I think this would be best for a single serving or for small groups where the time between cooking can be spaced apart. Clean up wasn't back. After draining, wiping with paper towels, I used the Dawn degreaser spray for cleaning the rest of the way. It was a lot easier than cleaning the bigger fryer.

A good little fryer. Very pleased with it. Good for quick, light things - just don't ask it to do any heavy lifting. Only uses one quart (plus a little) oil, so easy cleaning.

Amazon states that the wattage is 1650, the manufacturer's website states that it is 1000. That would equate to an enormous difference. Which one is correct?!?
