I purchased this slicer for home-based use. It actually performed a little worse than I expected after reading what other folks had to say about it. I always read the reviews before buying a product, especially when it's from online. The reason I only gave this product 3 stars was because, yes, it does slice meats, cheese, veggies.. BUT it is NOT consistent with the slices. I have used slicers on-the-job and although it will work for our needs and is small enough to store easily when not in use, it definately IS NOT comparative to a professional grade and the name of "Premium" is misleading. If asked if I would purchase this slicer again, the answer is, probably, but if actual professional slicers became more affordable for the average consumer, I'd opt to spend a little more and get a really good one.

I read the reviews here and bought one at HSN only because they offered the optional smooth blade for free a 25 dollar value.I knew the blade would make a big difference and it does. I have sliced a smoked leg of lamb, several pastramies, and some jerky meat. Does the job as stated and never slowed down or got hot after shaving meat for 15 minutes. If you want to shave meat thin get the smooth blade also, makes a big difference in my opinion. Definatley a great unit. Not that hard to clean either. One caution the smoothe blade is like a razor. I barely touched mine tonight and felt a sting like a paper cut, yep some blood, but it taught me to take more care.

I bought this to slice beef steaks for jerky. I've used frozen and thawed meats, and I must agree with the others that it is much easier to slice meat when it is frozen. The slicer easily cut through the frozen meat. It is very easy to clean with all the major parts being removable.
