The Chaucer Strike & Chime Mantel Clock from Ridgeway Clocks is a classic tambour, finished in Glen Arbor Cherry on select hardwoods and genuine Olive Ash Burl veneers, features a carved sloping scroll design that cradles the dial and adds a sleek yet elegant shape to this beautiful mantle clock supported by polished brass bun feet. Ridgeway Clocks' Chaucer features a white enamel-like dial with large Arabic numerals that is protected by a convex glass crystal lens. Chaucer by Ridgeway has the New Kieninger Quartz battery operated movement that offers the popular Westminster chime and one of BeethovenA s greatest masterpieces from his 9th Symphony; Ode to Joy. Either chime plays the tune progressively each quarter hour and offers a separate hour strike to count the time. This movement also offers an adjustable volume control feature and a consumer selectable auto silence feature for 8 hours. Two A CA Batteries are required.
