Central vacuum system
A central vacuum is a vacuum system that is installed into your home. It consists of a long hose that plugs into an outlet that is connected to tubing within the walls of your house. There is a central container that is usually placed in the garage or basement where all the dirt and particles are contained. The great thing about central vacuums is there is no heavy unit that you need to drag around with you. You might be thinking that if it’s just a tube then the attachments are limited? That is not the case, just like unit vacuums they have many different types of attachment you can use.
- There are two types of central vacuum systems:

- Cyclonic central vacuum system- this system uses centrifugal force to separate the impurities and deposit them into the canister.
- Filtered central vacuum system- this type of system uses many different kinds of filters like a screen, cloth, foam or paper to trap the particles. Since this system uses filters you do need to clean and replace them.
