Black & Decker Electric Mower MM275 We have a small yard which I had been mowing with a hand reel mower. The Black and Decker electric mower does a far superior job in less time. I had used electric tools ion the past (hedge clippers, string trimmer, etc.). and so was accustomed to handling the electric cord with care. Someone who has never used outdoor electric appliances could find it more difficult to avoid running over the cord The mower is well built and fits my needs. I would buy it again.

My gas push mower died this spring so I was in the market for a new mower when i stumbled upon the environment friendly, low cost MM275 electric mower. I was impressed, very excited about it. SO excited I was willing to overlook the bother of having to dance around the extension cord. It was a small price to pay for clearing my conscience of the guilt of using fossil fuels. However i have a couple issues with it. First, the chute that releases the clippings is designed in such a way that the grass always clogs it. Wet grass, dry grass it doesn't matter. It clogs, backs up and then you have to clear it with your hand before you can move on otherwise you run the risk of wearing down the motor... which I obviously did... Second, I have owned this mower for 6 weeks and the motor has seized up. It will not turn on it's own or by hand. I think it shows poor craftsmanship on behalf of black and decker, but i'm glad it happened well with in time of the warranty. Still, 6 weeks is not much time. It's just inconvenient because i have to convince my neighbor to come over and finish my lawn. I think this product is a good concept, I love it in theory, but in practice it is a radical fail. However, this just means electric mowers in the future will be all the better.

If it cant cut in wet grass, what do you do in late summer when the morning dew doesnt dry up because the days arent as hot? Im afraid that, like my Push Reel mower, it'll be another waste of money. I bought that but found out that if i dont cut my lawn every two days or so, its too tall for it to cut (pushes the grass over instead of cutting) so I have been using the good old craftsman gas mower again.. what happens if your lawn is damp? will it cut it or will you get shocked? all my plugs are GFI so they would "POP" before I died or anything...I hope..lol Thanks!
