I bought this vacuum on 07/29/2007, so exactly two years ago. I love the suction, it's easy to clean and maintain, the attachments work well, the hose is long. However, about a week ago the ON button stopped staying down; I had to press it continuously to keep it on. I was very disappointed because in the two yrs I had this machine I've had no reason to not love it. Today I needed to use it again and decided to go online to see if I can find a solution. Some people said that tightening the screws in the handle worked for them. Unfortunately it didn't work for me, so I turned to the product manual which said that the machine comes with a 2 yr warranty. Since I got this machine 2 yrs ago today I thought I'd better call Bissell and see if they can fix this. To my surprise, I got to talk to a rep almost immediately, without the long wait times and the endless loops of automated messages I've come to expect from just about any Customer "Service" Department. The rep told me that this machine actually comes with a 5 yr warranty and that they'll send me a whole new handle assembly for free. I am very, very pleased with the machine and the service, it is definitely worth the price. 5 stars from this customer!

Why do people write reviews about impertinent concerns? Like the vacuum tipping over if you pull the hose out? How about this? Instead of turning the vacuum away from you and using the hose, turn it around, and use the hose so it pulls the vacuum TOWARD you, and not tip it toward you. What a moron. Anyways, to review the vacuum properly, here's my opinion. When I vacuumed my carpet with my dirt devil, which was about $100, I immediately followed using the new Bissell. I'm pretty cynical and hard to convice, but this was awesome. I filled the bag on my 5 by 8 foot rug, and didn't even get to move the table yet. I have two dogs, and this works great. I'm so glad I got this instead of the dc14.

I purchased this at home depot for $115 on clearance. After using it I could honestly say that I would justify paying $250 for the vacuum because it is absolutely amazing. My first use was during a move, where I needed to clean my old apartment in order to get my security deposit back. It worked wonders on the floors getting all the cat hair up. Also there is a button to stop the brush from spinning which really helps on hard surfaces (my old vacuum would just bat the dust and debris around and never really pick anything up) The accessories are also very high quality. The crevice brush can pick up anything out of the space between the carpet and the walls, and the brush with extension is great for spider webs and dust bunnies. Overall I love this vacuum, having no experience with the dyson I could not make an objective comparison, but I can say that I would not trade this vacuum in for any other.
