Bissell 9200 ProHeat 2X Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner I have used Hoover's, Kenmore's, and of course the Rug Drs you rent from grocery stores. This is the best carpet cleaner I have ever used. I cleaned 25 year old carpet in a double-wide rental unit. It was matted and filthy to the point you couldn't recognize the original color. I expected some of the dirt to come out, but I didn't expect the results I got! That carpet looked almost new in places. The bad traffic areas came clean and you could actually see the sculpturing and color tones. The last time we cleaned this carpet was two years ago and we used the Rug Dr. The results were OK and livable. Any machine that cleaned carpet in that bad of condition and finished with impressive results is worth writing a review for. I even have a bad back and limited mobility. I had no problems pushing and pulling the machine. It did the work for me. I even cleaned the blackened upholstery on the sofa and chair. I would definitely recommend this machine. I would have liked the cleaning solution tank to be larger to cut down on the number of necessary refills. But that didn't hurt performance.

I've been slow to review this product, but after spending the morning reorganizing our bedroom and giving the carpets a long overdue cleaning, I figure it's about time. We purchased the Bissell 9200 back in 2006 as a compromise. I couldn't agree to hardwood floors, but I could promise to keep the carpets cleaner. Since that time we've used the Bissell about once a month. In 2007 we added a dog and the device became essential to keeping shedding under control. In 2009 we added a second dog who was barely house broken. Since then the Bissell has been used to clean up urine spots as well as its regular monthly use. In addition it has been loaned out on three separate occasions without a problem. The Bissell Deep Cleaner isn't as good as a steam cleaner, but it picks up debris that our Dyson doesn't and keeps us from drowning in dog hair. It's also built like a tank and works as well now as it did 3 years ago. If I had any complaints about it, it would be how difficult it can be to clear hair and fur out of the machine. Hair tends to collect underneath the unit and in the water intake vents. However an occasional cleaning can generally take care of those problems. Also, the main brushes seem a little underpowered. For tough stains I generally have to run the side brushes over the spot rather than used the motorized scrub bar. However I would purchase this unit again if given the opportunity.

I purchased this item a few months ago after a lot of online research. The first time I used it, it worked well. I was amazed at how much cat hair it lifted from the carpets, especially since we had our carpets cleaned with a Rug Doctor fairly recently. However, we just tried to use it for what would only be the 2nd time, and it no longer works. The water comes out very inconsistently and it will not suck up anything. We have reread the manual to make sure we are using it correctly, and examined the vacuum to make sure it is not clogged. Definitely not work $200 for one cleaning!!!
