After 5 months of being used in a computer that was always plugged in, I finally had the chance to try the battery for its capacity. The computer reported 5% charge but continued to operate fine. I decided to let it discharge the battery until it automatically went to sleep and then I could recharge it. The battery died before the computer was able to sleep, and when I went to charge it, it would read 0% and stop charging altogether after 15 minutes. Being the handy sort I am, I took apart the original Apple battery and this battery. (I noticed that there was even a typographical error on the label: "Model" was spelled "Modei".) Anyway, the replacement battery's electronics were sloppily assembled (poor component alignment) and inferior (only one poorly-placed temperature sensor) but apparently intact. I assumed the lithium ion cells were still good so I carefully disconnected the electronics and installed the electronics from the Apple battery. Once assembled, I was able to fully charge the battery without any problems.
