API 7521 Floating 1,500-Watt Pond De-Icer/Heater
This De-icer is designed to float in the water tank and is thermostatically controlled with an automatic shut-off. The Styrofoam float is completely enclosed within a rugged plastic housing. The cord exits from the top of the unit. This gives the heater added stability and it is less likely to tip the tank. Patented. 1500 Watts, 120 Volts

Pros & Cons :otherwise the heat element will wander over to the side of the pond and supposedly cause a fire hazard, although i'm a lot more considered about it burning a hole in the liner.
