Interior design trends: Antique accents

If you’re looking to give your home a brand new and different look, then try giving your interiors antique accents for that old-world charm that you can enjoy for many years to come.

Refer to magazines, get online help or consult a professional and decide on the look you want for your home.
Once you decide on the look, start collecting knick knacks, old pictures or imitations of old prints that you can get framed, other art work, china, antique hurricane lamps, mirrors, chandeliers and furniture and antiques that you like and enjoy and put together the look you’ve visualized.
You can go in for a Middle Eastern look, Oriental look, French look or an old empire look and give it exclusive touches like with crystal hurricane lamps and lights, Oriental rugs, throws and cushions, pictures and other furniture according to the style you’ve chosen.
If you’re not able to source genuine antiques, reproduction antique furniture, replacement hurricane lamp globes and other things are easily sourced.
Do a thorough research as it’s important to choose the right colors to get the antique accents right. Keeping the overall look light with muted colors in cream shades or warm neutrals will go well with this look. The accent colors are usually rich like reds, russets, purples, maroons, teal blue pinks and the patterns intricate which will go well with light, neutral shades.
When you choose the furniture, make sure you get traditional looking ones even if they are not genuine French or Oriental, but they have to look delicate and a little ornate.
Add antique accents with door knobs, antique style drawer pulls and colorful rugs and upholstery with patterns of flowers and foliage, butterflies or traditional stripes.

Make sure you get good bargains and the look you exactly want.
