This Hamilton Beach Percolator is the way to go. The coffee is wonderful. It tastes like restaurant coffee. It brews very quickly, and it is nice and hot when done. There is no way for hard water minerals to build up in this coffee pot, which was our problem with the drip brands. I will keep buying this item as long as it is available.

Ours lasted longer than many other reviewers - about a year of daily use. Now, the coffee is only warm. The larger the batch, the cooler the coffee. Even a six cup batch is too cool to enjoy. Brewing a full pot is a waste of time and coffee. We hope the Farberware 12 cup that we just ordered holds up better.

We bought this coffeepot when our other pot died suddenly after about 10 years of faithful service. We liked the looks of the Hamilton Beach and bought one before reading any reviews. What a lousy coffeepot! It made decent coffee a couple of times but very quickly began to produce the "weak tea" others here have described. Money down the drain ... but we did learn one thing. No more Hamilton Beach products! Don't buy this. Seriously, just keep looking. You will NOT be happy with this thing. OK ... I called customer service and was told they will send me a new coffee pot for $9.99, but I have to cut the power cord in two pieces and mail it to them with my check. Huh? Why not just return the power cord? I asked a few times and no ... you have to cut the cord in half. And will the new pot work any better than this one? And I have to spend $9.99 to find out??? I dunno ... judging from my latest experience with the less tan enthusiastic customer service person, Hamilton Beach will now be at the top of my DO NOT BUY brands.
